Unirii Square

Unirii Square is one of the most important symbols of the treasure city in the heart of Transylvania. With the Church of St. Michael and the statuary group of Matei Corvin, located in the middle, Unirii Square in Cluj-Napoca is an impressive tourist attraction and a meeting place for locals and tourists alike. Unirii Square is also the zero point of Cluj-Napoca.

St. Michael's Church

St. Michael's Church in Cluj-Napoca is an impressive historical and religious monument, witness to many events. St. Michael's Church is also one of the most representative Gothic buildings in Romania. Built between the 14th and 15th centuries, the church is located in the current Union Square, becoming one of the emblematic monuments of the city.

The Mirrored street

The Mirrored Street in Cluj-Napoca, on its official name, Iuliu Maniu Street, is a unique objective in the Transylvania area, built according to the modern concept of Paris in the vision of the architect Hausmann. The mirrored street was built symmetrically (between Unirii Square and Bolyai Street), in the 19th century, in an eclectic style, and the name of the street is due to the two identical buildings at the entrance from Unirii Square.

„Alexandru Borza” Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden of Cluj-Napoca is a scientific and educational institution, subordinated to Babeș-Bolyai University. On an area of 14 ha(or 34.6 acres) and having land with a varied configuration, the Botanical Garden is suitable for growing and developing plants on different continents. Currently, the Botanical Garden hosts over 10,000 specific categories.


Hungarian State Theatre

Operating without interruption since its establishment in 1792, the Hungarian State Theatre is also the oldest Hungarian-language theatre company, and since 2008 it is the only Hungarian-language theatre included in the European Theatre Union.

The fortress or „Cetățuia” in Romanian

The fortress is a Habsburg fortification built between 1715 and 1735, according to the plans of the military architect Giovanni M. Visconti. With star-shaped walls, the old fortification comprised a redoubt and a tower, being surrounded by bastions, and outside it was surrounded by a wave of soil.


Central Park

„Simion Bărnuțiu” Central Park or „Parcul Mare”, as it is also called, is a real oasis of relaxation for the people of Cluj, as well as one of the tourist objectives usually on the list of those who visit Cluj. Central Park is one of the main green spaces in the central area of the city, covering an area of about 13 hectares(32 acres).


Art Museum

The Cluj-Napoca Art Museum is one of the most prestigious museum institutions with an artistic profile in Romania, with a valuable heritage, which includes Romanian and universal art, dating from the 15th century to the present day.

Ethnographic Museum of Transylvania

Founded in 1922, the Ethnographic Museum of Transylvania is both the first ethnographic museum in Romania and the first Romanian museum designed on the basis of a scientific program. The research campaigns carried out in 1922-1923 led to the acquisition, as ethnographic materials, of 1230 objects and to the production of 160 photographs, these constituting in 1923 the first permanent ethnographic exhibition of the museum.

„Lucian Blaga” Central University Library

The Central University Library „Lucian Blaga” Cluj is not only one of the most important university libraries in Romania, but also the largest library in Transylvania! B.C.U, as it is known by Cluj residents and students, also has a museum character, due to its encyclopaedic, cultural and scientific profile, as well as due to the right of legal deposit.


Tailors' Tower

Over 500 years ago, the Tailors' Tower in Cluj was probably the strongest point of defence of the Citadel, being in the area most exposed to dangers. Named after the guild initially responsible for its maintenance and defence, the Tailors' Tower was repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt.

Matei Corvin House

Matei Corvin House is an attraction of the city of Cluj-Napoca, due to the fact that here, in the building on no. 6 Matei Corvin Street, King Matthias Corvinus was born, also due to its architectural uniqueness. Matei Corvin House is the only palace in Cluj-Napoca, representative of the transition period from Gothic to Renaissance style.


The Orthodox cathedral

The Orthodox Cathedral of Cluj is one of the most important religious buildings in Cluj-Napoca. It was built in the span of ten years, between 1920-1930, immediately after the union of Transylvania with Romania.



Museum Square

The Museum Square is the oldest square in Cluj, being located in the centre of the first fortified enclosure of the old fortress. Formerly called "Piața Mică", the now beloved square takes its name from the National Museum of History of Transylvania, located at the western end of the square.

Avram Iancu Square

One of the largest squares in Cluj, Avram Iancu Square was, until the second part of the 19th century, a training ground for soldiers, which became a pasture, and then a cattle and wood fair. In the second half of the 19th century, the area was rethought for the purpose of civic expansion of the city.
